On being an artist...

Ouch... as an American, that cuts deep,  but it's likely true. Many Americans have poor taste... and that is my opinion, as I suppose all art is subjective. I take you seriously, and I think most thinking humans will. I suppose we all have different tastes :)

I am a US citizen too...
and it bothers me...  
just as it does you.

Why is it always the arts,  
that are tossed...when money gets tight?

Football never shares that fate...pity, when it does so much damage to the brains of our children...

Thank God for the cultured few ... which includes ... you and me ...

I always thought Americans valued art more than Brits - but my experience was to do with textiles - maybe paintings are different. Is your art available to see on a website somewhere?

Not any more...we had a working studio and gallery in Salida for ten years... There are some paintings and drawings with some of my poems.
I no longer paint...or do portraits...twenty years performing was enough for me...
now I'm for doing it with poetry.
