Image for the poem goodbye

goodbye

your silence echoed through my soul
damning my days
I ache inside the emptiness
the hour of the loneliness had come upon me

shunned from your sight I wept bitter tears
you would see me no more
refused the love I craved
my brokenness became a void

bereft of tears I would not cry
your solemn, stoic walk said it all
you didn't need me

inside the fire of rejection, I burn
your moonshine kisses were for someone else
the brittle dawning of truth hurt bitterly

today I take a lover to fill the hole you left with goodbye
in the end my need would bring to my knees
I would weep for you someday

you were my great love
my pain will not be denied
