Image for the poem sunsets

sunsets

ecstasy's last breath taste of tangerine
sweet surrender in the arms of my lover dark
I was sweet candied bliss
summer in my smile
dripping sugar dew
but midnights in the eyes

I was sure of my power
until you entered the scene
an intoxicating seducer
I was beguiled day one

your charm devasting
a man of substance
a man of worth
there was something in your swagger
a glint in your eyes
a hardness that drew me in

but with me gentle sunsets
dawing on the stillness of a river
lazily making its way through
my canyons and valleys

in our quiet days
you stalk my womanliness in repose
with the stealth of a hunter
I alone knew you

your dusty boots lie in a heap
the curses in your stare said it all
you could bear it no more
you took me passionately with a hunger
savage in the knowing
deadly in the art

I was your woman...then
utterly lay claim to
