Storms calm
May we be the sky
our thoughts but the breezes and tornadoes
our feelings the clouds and falling snow
our fears the hail and black holes
our longings the dew and stars
May we be wide open
holding, enfolding
embracing all
joyfully and boundlessly
in a skyscape of sun and moon and storm and the bright blue afterglow
Unfettered by the tempests of the day
may we be the calm in the center of it all.

Really enjoyed this one ... everything about it ... the structure ... plump words like "unfettered" ... a definite keeper ...

Beautiful, Rachelle. When I was taught to meditate, I was taught when you could meditate on busy street corner and remain unaffected, then you could, indeed, meditate. Strangely, that is what this verse reminded me of.
Very peaceful and soothing.

💜!! I love that this came up for you, A.!.. My form of meditative practice (Saiva Tantra) is just this. In fact, you primarily sit in quiet méditation so that you might bring it out into the world and implement it on that ‘mad street corner’. I am getting the opportunity to practice this over and over again (in mighty force) in 2020, as are so many across the world.... 💜🙏🏽💫💜, R.

Dear R,
Would it be odd as I read your piece I could feel calmness prevail? Your closing line brings such a sense of serenity in reminding us that releasing everything taken on during the day that’s a toxin should be expelled. Truly lovely write. H🌷

Ahh! So glad it landed as meditation for you! It is so important, especially during this time, to be able to simply release it all. Thank you for the kind reflection! ♥️, R.

This definitely speaks to me. Love the central metaphor. It very accurately illustrates my own internal struggle these days.

Thank you so much, Harry! Love is always at the center, isn’t it? I saw I am delayed in reading your comment-hoping your own storm has calmed a bit?!.. Sending love and light! R.

Love is central to life itself. The need to love is central to even the most bizzare personalities. The big difference is in what we love, people, money, fame etc., all can be a tempest. Wonderfully written! A.🌹😘

Thank you, A.! So true-wondering if some of the more bizarre manifestations just have a really strange (and sometimes ineffective) way of asking for and giving love.

This reminds me so much of Rumi poetry. Beautiful, lyrical and great the way it expounds upon the discombobulation of life but also the ultimate beauty

Rumi is heady comparison-honored to be included in even the wee-est part of his shadow :)... 🙏🏽💜🙏🏽, Rachelle
