The Forgotten

Lately, the news just keeps getting worse
there's more cases reported every day
i'm starting to think that a certain word
is actually all they know how to say

They say all of these different things
about who really deserves the blame
but instead of actually doing something to stop it
they treat it like some kind of political game

Lately, I've begun to think more about this
and something has come to my mind...
everyone's so busy with people that have houses
that they forget about the ones stuck outside

Yes, the number infected keeps rising, that's true
but in reality, we aren't even close to knowing
remotely the right amount
cause the people stuck living in poverty
were never sent people to help them out

but really is that the only problem
that we still face today?
or have we all forgotten about
the people sick in another way?

what about the people
who fight monsters nobody else sees?
what about the broken children
left crying on their knees?

what about the women
with husbands who talk with fists?
or are we all just pretending
that these people don't exist?

COVID this and COVID that...
THAT"S ALL I EVER HEAR!!!!
For once please just once...
can't we talk about something else this year?
