Exequies for a Bee
(twenty-eight of 30 - Official DUP NaPo/GloPoWrimo 2020)
Found a Bee last night
on its last leg
of its short existence.
Got me thinking. . .
a lone(r) individual
now no longer
pollinating his
surroundings, unable
to serve his Queen,
accepts his fate &
waits for the gate
to open.
This Bee lied sideways
barely moving
on my bedroom floor.
i would have set outside
but i knew he would not
survive, so i tried
to make his upcoming
demise
as comfortable as
possible.

dearest Tallen sometimes I feel much the same
so ready for the immortal journey
so weary of this mortal realm and all it's heartache...

I always feel terrible for bees. They are such needed creatures and people hate them so. This was a lovely little tribute to the pollinators.

appreciate Your share, Sister
Bees flying about me all the time
(i must smell like a flower -- but i don't wear any scented products so no idea why Bees are attracted to me)
thank You for the kind praise

"A society is judged by how it treats its animals", particularly the dying ones. Compassion toward other sentients is something that should be taught to all schoolchildren; it's more important than anything else.
Lovely little poem.
Lovely little poem.

My daughter and I found a bumblebee laying on its back on our porch and thought it was dying or dead. But we felt it more dignified to be on its feet when it met its maker. So we gently turned him over. To our complete surprise, after a minute or so, he just up and flew away. It was like a gift of untold proportion to witness and to be a part of his survival. Reading this poem made me think of our bee that we called Herbert.

aaaaaaaah You gave me my 1st smile of this morning -- thank You
Bumblebees do stuff like that -- rest on their backs
but Honeybees are a different breed, maybe because they're smaller. But the one i found, i found inside and who knows how long it was trapped indoors with nothing to do in a hot condo apt
thank You for sharing that " Feel-Good " moment

You are so kind, Tallen. Animals and insects can't speak our language but I'm sure the bee must have blessed you on its own way...

i have always had a way with animals
often to my physical demise
but i never blamed them or got angry at them
Plain fact,
they are just attracted to my energy
i once had a Bee land on my dash while i was driving (right in front of the steering wheel)
and i didn't react and kept driving and eventually
after about 15 minutes and at the next stop light
it flew out the window.
Hmmm........maybe it's a Bee thing - lol

I always feel so sad when I see a bee in distress, I just want to help them, but I cannot ask what they need, makes me feel really sad.

i think Bees and Owls are my spirit animals
i found another Bee on my bedroom floor and wondered how? why?
i do know that often Bees come near our domiciles
in search of water.
I'd set out a bowl of marbles, ice cubes and water if i thought the wild animals here would leave it alone so the Bees could take a hydrating break but i know better............
A wild Javelina chased me back into my place once when i was going to check my mailbox.
O well..........
