How Can There Be a Spring
How can there be a Spring without their song.
The weights attached to all the birds I’d seen,
The silence of the nests from all that’s wrong,
A harbinger from where we since have been.
It didn’t come to me till yesterday,
How can there be a Spring without their song.
What’s chasing all our feathered friends away,
It seems, too, all the animals are gone.
I never thought that I should live so long
To such a silent world when I awoke.
How can there be a Spring without their song
To only hear myself each time I spoke.
Perhaps then I shall never hear again
The flocks of birds returning from now on.
Is all the norm of life sapped with the rain,
How can there be a Spring without their song.

You know they say when you can't hear or see the birds something has change for the animals are the first sign of things to come when you don't see or hear them like birds in the trees nicely done poetess..respect

Thank you, Stoney, I know exactly what you mean. Ice never experienced like this however. No neighborhood dogs barking anywhere, no cats darting across the roves at night, no crickets, and like I said... no birds!

Glad to know it’s more normal where you are. This is in the San Fernando Valley, L.A. County, where (in my neighborhood) there’s been no evidence of dogs barking anywhere, no cats darting across the roves at night, no crickets, and like I said... no birds!

Hope the colors come, feathers of all
A very soft melanch., very slow inlay
with this Write, I love that even being on the sleeve,
it comes across subtle.

A sensitive and thoughtful poem Jade. This silence is felt by everyone living around the nightmare of Covid 19 and even animals feel it too. A spring without their song indeed with only silence in the air. Beautiful, lyrical spill. 🌹

The loss of songs in the trees. The loss of clouds, sun and rays of hope.
Good write Jade.

Thank you most gratefully, Tomcat. I forgot to mention that there’s also been no sound of crickets - day or night.🤕

It almost feels as if it's a prayer, wondering how this season is so different from the rest. Oh the woes of our times.
Well done Ms. Jade.

Thank you, dear Wally🙏🏻
That’s how it felt & still feels to me. These times have caused everything about life to change for us all in sone or in all ways... making it impossible to foresee any future of substance.
Be safe & well, my friend.
