Dead Memories

autumn leaves
swirling through chilled blue skies
an assortment of all shades of death

falling, ever slowly
drifting to meet their end
yet it seems to happen so fast
one moment-
suspended in air
an infinite second
but before you know it
it's over
if you look away you'll miss it
now it's lost in a scattered mess
forever in the past
forgotten with the rest of them

come collect my pile of poison
colorful memories left
rotting on the wet ground
maroon and blood red
rake them away
so I can see the grass
come alive once again
