Boiling water
breaks my skin
I scream,
then I'm alone again
Sticks and stones
and open wounds
Break my bones
yet flowers bloom
Roots run deep
and rivers flow
From eyes that weep
and souls that glow
Rip through flesh
with frozen trees
Shallow breaths
and new disease
A mind infected,
black with mold
But underneath
a cage of gold
A cage I built
with my own hands
Breaking free,
my lungs expand
The earth and sky
always monochrome grey
bleed vivid colors
as I fly away
breaks my skin
I scream,
then I'm alone again
Sticks and stones
and open wounds
Break my bones
yet flowers bloom
Roots run deep
and rivers flow
From eyes that weep
and souls that glow
Rip through flesh
with frozen trees
Shallow breaths
and new disease
A mind infected,
black with mold
But underneath
a cage of gold
A cage I built
with my own hands
Breaking free,
my lungs expand
The earth and sky
always monochrome grey
bleed vivid colors
as I fly away
