It’s eerie here. Little traffic and empty parking lots. So many people flocked to our numerous natural reserves for hiking that they started closing those down. This whole thing is unreal...

Been thinking about you up there, Cowboy.  Stay safe and healthy.

My only advice to anyone outside of a hotspot is to avoid in person contact as much as possible and to sanitize everything you buy and constantly wash your hands.  With all that it’s still a difficult proposition.  Take no chances.  Stock up on medicine and food.  This is coming to every locale.  
Take the extra step to sanitize always ...
Have extra moisturizing lotion for your hands as they get rough from frequent washing.

Poet, a very dire warning, but accurate nonetheless.  I do hope you have not been affected by this personally, i.e. - your friends or family.

My wife showed symptoms on 3/12 and immediately went into self quarantine.   She lives in the bedroom and I in the living room.  I am asymptotic for now.  She has gotten much better but I don’t trust this virus so she will probably continue to self quarantine for another 4 days or longer.  It’s difficult but doable.  I only go out for very short amounts of time.  The loss of freedom to do normal things is perplexing ....

I'm trying to lead a prudent life, not what you'd expect from the cowboy...
I just closed my livingroom window because someone was coughing not far away.  I live in the back of a building and sound carries so it's hard to know how far away that cough is ???

The less people I see, the better, that means people are following the rules.  Though I did see a few neighbors yesterday when I went out for supplies.  I was happy to talk at a distance for a few minutes and move on.  Wear a mask and gloves when outside.  This is definitely not the New York I know but i am proud of how vigilant we have become.  Follow the rules and stay in touch with friends and family remotely if possible.

Absolutely good advice but just one thing. Please do not wear mask that do not filter 95% of virus particles. It only make things worse. Proper PPE guideline.

I find the mask Controversy to be utterly confusing.  
We are so condensed in spacing here in NYC I feel safer with a mask and surgical gloves when I venture out, which isn’t much.  Did you see 60 Minutes last night ?  Should  be required viewing for anyone who thinks it can’t happen to them.

You keep yourself out of the sights of that damn virus, Poe! I wish more people here would take it seriously...but chain restaurants all still have full parking lots and the malls are still bustling. It's unsettling to know they're just blithely walking around with invisible guns to their heads. Me...? I'm hunkered down in my house, working from home 3 days a week and checking in at the LOCKED office twice a week. I'm not playing around, I aim to walk through this intact...hopefully!

Like Italy, the entire country needs to lock down.
Here in my part of the city people are mostly taking it seriously.  
A New Yorker dies every 7 minutes.  

Some are still not taking it seriously. People, if you get this and end up in the hossy, you do not get to see anyone!  STAY THE FUCK HOME!  hugs PS...from 6ft away of course! <3

Knowing personally what NYC is like in the norm, I can’t even imagine how unsettled I would be among such quietness, Poppa. You give excellent advice we all should heed and I hope you are diligent enough to practice what you preach 🤗🤗

Many times we think of all others and place ourselves last but like I’ve heard in the past — “one has to put the oxygen mask on themselves first before they can save anyone else...”

I’m doing my best to avoid going out.  I only go when I need supplies or to just stretch my legs and get some real fast exercise in.  It’s daunting hi ow this city has shut down but it’s totally the right move.  I hope you are doing the same in Nebraska.  Willow tells me that the stores and malls are full of people.  Don’t be one of them.

Yup - I’m in my place hunkered down -only go out when I need to for my meds. Haven’t been to the malls or anything - I’ve got enough stocked up where I don’t need to do any shopping. I know Willow tells me she gets reports from others about it but when I do go out for a necessity I’m upset by what I see here and there and if I have to go into the grocery store I keep my distance from everyone even if it means dodging people.

We will be smart and get through this.

It's super surreal and at times ultra depressing but me and Mrs P are marching on
She's taught me a lot about cooking basic stuff and home cleaning
She's a tough customer but I think she would give me pretty good grades

Everyday we watch the news and monitor the websites. It's really unbelievable that a big city like that is shut down.
