The Rise of Satanic Music and Culture in Summary

I979 a band by the name of Venom came onto the English music scene. Heavily influenced by punk rock of the 1970s, they took it to level that was rebellious toward the Catholic Church. They used satanic imagery on their album covers and on stage simply as a form of rebellion. Basically it took the rebellion of punk against the government to punk rebelling against Christianity. It is the band to coin the moniker "black metal" in 1982, using the term as an album name.
1982, a band called Merciful Fate formed in Denmark. With true atheistic aka Levayen Satanic views, they were the first to brave a new world in music...Satanic Metal. Arguably, they are the true founders of Black Metal's early sound.
In 1983, a band from Sweden called Bathory formed. Bathory, who was heavily influenced by Venom and Merciful Fate, stormed the Scandinavian music scene using lyrics paying tribute to Norse heritage, down tuned guitars, as well as incorporating Norse folk music. The genre they created became known as "doom metal", a spin off of thrash and infant black metal. It is debatable whether or not they were ever truly black metal, but their influence was heavily placed upon the backs of metal to this very day. Their influence quickly spread to Norway, where the story truly begins.
In 1984 an obscure group of teens banded together to form Mayhem. Their Influences range from bands like Bathory, Venom, to Black Sabbath. In the 1980s through the 1990s, teenagers began exploring their ancestral roots, and blamed Christianity for its destruction. Mayhem is a product of that rebellion. Using harsh, evil sounding vocals, they created the modern sound of black metal.
In the early 1990s, many bands began to emerge from Norway. Burzum, Emperor, and Mayhem were heavily involved in the church burnings of Norway at that time. The church burnings were aimed directly to reclaim the Norse sacred lands most were built on. Satan began to be a central figure, even though most of the bands were not truly Satanic, they held many Satanic elements and values. Also it bolstered shock value.
Many other bands came into light in the early 90s who need mentioning...Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon, Marduk, and many others.
many of these bands still exist, and are largely misunderstood. They stand on scruples and morals they deem as higher than Christianity. They believe in preserving nature, they do not believe in murder, rape, theft, etc. They believe in living a life that is high in standards, and self-accountability. Christians, they claim, uses Jesus's sacrifice as a crutch to do as they please. The band members simply believe in living a positive and prosperous life without the expense of the earth and nature, and living for yourself and loved ones. Nothing else matters.
With the way the world is going, and society seeming to be in decay, the millennial generation is lost. There seems to be no end to the sex, evil, and violence influencing society. The logical alternative is not God, it is Satan. Why, you will ask...because God has not been here. However, blame cannot be placed on anything that is outright perceived as "evil", it is to be blames on what the surface seems as modern societal norms.
