Once Upon a Nightmare

outside the clouds gather in front of a full-faced moon
thick and brewing
on a storm that never fully erupts.

           see it
                   hear it
and feel it start to rumble

green blue and gray assemble
greasing up the night before the dawn comes to rinse
cleaning out the bloodied gashes she doesn't want us to see

still sin and rage remain all around
the eye may have moved,
but the storm holds us all captive

it dares us to pick a side
         pick any

but we must choose carefully
