The Dance
It was not you
Love
But I who was lost
*
What is the name of the park where you walked
That had the trees and peacocks,
And the raven that followed you?
Was it silly of me not to be able to live without trees?
I was never one for desert places
So far from the hills and the.mountains I know
But it's in my heart to go there one day
And though you'll not be there
Your presence shall arise
From the place you made in my heart
And I'll speak to the winds my name,
My secrets
And my life
And if the twists of fate are kind
It shall be in the spring and it shall rain
And if not
The tears shall be enough to cleanse
The 1,000 times you called to me and I could not rise to go
And silence the echo of those words
Which haunt my heart
For the dance I missed
*
And through tears or rain I shall whisper
I couldn't come when you wanted
But I came when I could
Love
But I who was lost
