The fridge

He had been saving up
For some time
He had been saving up
To buy a fridge

He already had a bed
But the next thing
He needed was a fridge

What he forgot is that
A fridge needed food
But he was proud of himself
He finally bought something
For himself
He finally had something
That he went to pick out
Something he bought
With his own money

'One day there will
be food in this fridge'

Each day he ate junk food
The quickest and cheapest
Meal which he could afford

'One day there will
Be food in this fridge'

At night he could hear
the fridge rumble

'One day there will
Be food in this fridge'

Each day he knew
That he wasn't eating right
He knew that if he continued
This way he would get sick
When he got old

But he was still young
One more month of sacrifices
Could ensure that he could start something up for himself

One more month was all he needed

Work was merely to raise capital
And on his time off he researched
The market which he wanted to enter

He knew that he couldn't quit his job
He knew that he would still have to work
For a few more years

But he still had one conviction

'One day there will
Be food in this fridge'

He longed for a home cooked meal
He longed to sit at a dinner table
Sharing stories of each others lives
But he made a bargain
And these silent moments
In empty rooms
Was how he'd pay the piper

'One day there will
Be food in this fridge'

His journey was just beginning
He knew that he was about
To do something special

His story is not one of rags to riches
His story is merely about his evolution
His story is about a guy
Who just wants to put food in his fridge
It's just that simple:

Here he was a guy with a dream
A guy who moved to an area
That seemed to have job opportunities

He moved so that he could become
He moved so that all he could rely on
was the fact that he came this far
And there was no turning back

Because for now all he had
To his name was the fridge that
He bought with his first few salaries
It preserved his promise
It gave him his conviction
It taught him that life
Isn't nice to everyone
But you can make a nice life
For yourself

Because one way or another

One day there will be
Food in the fridge
