That's so interesting.  I'm glad you enclosed the author's note by taking the time to look up on their migration trail.  I always find it so fascinating how animals, insects have that instinct to go where their ancestors have gone and then come back again.  You've captured it so well GW in your haiku.

That innate instinct is fascinating to me as well. I am going to plant some milkweed, their recommended source of food, in my garden and see if more will stop by. There's an awesome hibernation spot for Monarchs at Natural Bridges beach in Santa Cruz, California. I miss my visits there.
