Tongue Tied
You are the
Apple of my eye.
Gleaming so bright.
I love how red
Your cheeks can get.
From late night conversations.
I stumble over sentences.
Like looking at you
Causes my words
To trip over themselves.
Like a cherry stem
In my mouth.
Being tied into a knot
Around my tongue.
I can feel the frogs
Lounging in my throat.
Waiting for the second
Before I talk to you.
Jumping into action.
Trying to halt my words
In their tracks.
I won't let them stop me
From saying my piece.
Releasing the weight
Of the world
From my shoulders.
I love you
For everything that you are.
And who you'll become.
I can see you're scared
Of what the future holds.
I just want you to know
I will hold your hand
Through Hell and back.
Apple of my eye.
Gleaming so bright.
I love how red
Your cheeks can get.
From late night conversations.
I stumble over sentences.
Like looking at you
Causes my words
To trip over themselves.
Like a cherry stem
In my mouth.
Being tied into a knot
Around my tongue.
I can feel the frogs
Lounging in my throat.
Waiting for the second
Before I talk to you.
Jumping into action.
Trying to halt my words
In their tracks.
I won't let them stop me
From saying my piece.
Releasing the weight
Of the world
From my shoulders.
I love you
For everything that you are.
And who you'll become.
I can see you're scared
Of what the future holds.
I just want you to know
I will hold your hand
Through Hell and back.
