Straw Dogs 刍狗

Heaven and Earth are heartless, treating creatures like straw dogs.*

This is how I’ve seen many treated such,
Not all, for there are those who work the straw.
And only humans think this way and clutch,
To pitch aside the useless that I saw.

To have them set alight in sacrifice,
This is how I’ve seen many treated such.
Not even offering a bowl of rice,
The pennies pocketed safe from a hunch.

It’s humankind by choice that’s out of touch,
That holds it over us who don’t belong.
This is how I’ve seen many treated such,
I too am used, a victim, right or wrong.

To handfuls of the “haves” we must obey,
To genuflect and use this as a crutch.
Why any of us feel that that’s okay?
This is how I’ve seen many treated such!
