Banished

The crisp breeze blows
As though it knows
Thoughts of you in my mind
Longing for you to find

By your body when you come to call
Perhaps you will not come at all
Once again left subjected to your whims
To see if you will ever come again

Left alone with my desires
Stoked by your fire
A longing I had never known
A desperation once unknown

I long to break free from these chains
Of the memory that remains
Left with the question of why
You chose to say goodbye

Are you haunted by the memory
Of my sweet lips on your body
Does your mind ever wander
To the hours that we would squander

Making love in the pale moonlight
No other distraction in our sight
With only eyes for you
And my promise to be true

But you discarded me like trash
I have burned your love letters into ash
In the hope I will banish you
And all the promises untrue
