The Champion of the World
Those who recognize Love
are lichen to its presence:
particularly poverty—
a pauper in the dell
with a cozy caravan
poached breakfast
and mechanical garage;
a widower unshaped
by societal mold
and a motherless boy eager to learn
is all it took to save the world
despite unbecoming behavior
of a profit monger—
not the Queen's Guard
upholding monarchy rules;
nor barristers in fancy suits—
but, a wealth of togetherness
wearing worn, yet clean clothes
~

"is all it took to save the world

I'm immediately reminded of that creep who inflated the price of epi pens for his own self gain.
Growing up poor and on the fringe of society, you learn to appreciate and make the most of what you do have.
"Those who recognize Love

I'm liken the double meaning of lichen here! Those who recognize Love are Loving.

To share that togetherness with one’s soul mate
is truly a wealth beyond imagination... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾, not surprised that with this ink you did it again! 😊

Good luck in the comp.
The poor are always more generous because they know a life without.

“widower unshaped
by societal mold…”
Damn straight, sister.
Fuck the mold. Motherfuck society!
It’s a dead poets dream. (;
Listen.. did you hear that? 🤫
That’s the sound of my heart beating in togetherness, girlfriend.
So glad it’s a family here in the deep. (:
Your pal,
Losty.

Excellent - those who manage to enter adulthood without having lost their essential self and therefore without having to spend the next 40 years undoing the memes are a blessing to society indeed.

Me (seeing the comp); Who's Roal Dahl?
After googling him; OMG!
Although I never read his books (I didn't start reading English until I was 10), I was never really exposed to these books growing up. I know the stories (seen the movies) but now I feel like I missed out a lot on childhood and yet your piece gives me that sense of wonder.
Is it too late to read them at 45?
Thank you for sharing Ahavati, good luck in the comp.

I don't remember this story, it sounds inspiring, but I loved 'James And The Giant Peach' and of course, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', the greatest underdog story of its time..

LOL! This and " James And The Giant Peach" were the first I remember for some strange reason! Thank you, PR!
