A stranger's gaze

A tall dark stranger
Appears
Slipping out of the shadows
And into my view
Peering just above over my shoulders
Above my head
Awaiting my gaze
To lock with his
Me shy and embarrassed
I divert my gaze
Somewhere else, anywhere else
Out of rhythm out of sinc
With the moment
A man awaiting some sort of flirty confrontation
I shun it off
Amblivious
Naive to his intentions
Whether the are curious or unpredictable
Of innocent intent or full of betrayal
I write it off
As curious harrassment
To whom every woman is a potential
Target
Of a flirtatious lust
