there is another
march for peace
this time it's
against hatred
but hatred will
do whatever it
takes to get it's
point across...
starvation,
torture,
murder,
even
genocide
peace will march
down the street
carrying signs,
chanting pithy
slogans
but the walls will
not crumble,
the tanks will not
retreat
the fires will not
be dampened
peace,
my old
friend
you better
wise
up

I remember when the Berlin wall came down and how the world cheered, now we get to see one get erected in a time when we should be past walls. My dad is Kurdish Iraqi and I know all about genocide and war and it kills me. Poignant poem in depressing desperate times.

My dear nikki. My heart goes out to both your father, you and the Kurdish people. I cannot imagine the horrors that go on in that part of the world. It seems, sadly, that hate is winning, and will continue to win until every person of good conscience takes a stand and refuses to follow their governments flawed ideologies.

Great point. 60 years of peace marching since the 1960s and where are we now? Whatever the resistance it always gets turned around by The System and used against ordinary people. Retreat to an ashram or disengage & live off-grid? Sort of (done it). I'd rather engage fruitfully but still working on it.

OK Kitty, I'm an old man and that's why I am a misanthrope lol. Powerful words that point to the true human condition...and as we continue to overpopulate this tiny planet the wars will get bigger and BIGGER.
