Yemen Tragedy
“Does he fight
or do they put him in a cannon
and shoot him at the enemy?”
It’s a fair question,
one that should be aimed at war-mongering politicians
who sign off £billions
in weapons sales to the Saudis.
Me?
I’m give ‘em each a spade and say
dig the graves of the innocent.

True, it is surreal but a lot of people seem to think it's inevitable ... even 'normal'.

Apparently the oil-industry collectively is sitting on loads of patents with better alternatives that could easily be manufactured and offered to the general public.

The few have lorded it over the many for centuries, with a continuing pattern of wars, etc. My father told me he fought a war against tyranny (labelled at the time as Fascism) but people of the same mind-set would one day be back to have another go at squeezing life out of the general population. He hoped it wouldn't happen in my lifetime.

I love that with a five line poem you spoke volumes. History tends to repeat itself only with more drastic effects every time.
Good luck in the comp.

It's the power of technology, I believe, that amplifies the effects each time round.

If we were to dig our own graves, there would be nothing let of this world. Mankind does not consider the consequences of its own actions. Well done Josh.

Thank you BK; short-term thinking has now got so short our prime-minister survives on the hoof day-to-day - bit like Trump I guess.

Thank you sunsettown for visiting and commenting. Like I said to Wallyroo, it's technology that amplifies the effects now -and hugely powerful technologies are in the hands of a very few people - who have a very 'alien' mind-set with regard to human suffering.

I was reading about the private prison system today. The prison population here in the states has gone up something like 700% since the implementation. The cramped quarters, lack of educational and counseling initiatives, it is turning offenders into repeat offenders, non violent offenders into violent offenders, and without the tools or insights to do better, they are rotating right back in. The world is in awful shape and an evolutionary leap of consciousness is going to be necessary to avert disasters.

Thank you for commenting again Daniel. I checked out our own prison system - and had no idea that "Her Majesty's Prison Service' is now largely contracted out to private companies. Julian Assange (of Wikileaks) is in Belmarsh prison (The U.K's Guantanamo Bay) near London which has section for 'enhanced interrogation'. On British soil. It's hard to apprehend.
You are right, a massive leap in consciousness is required to avert worse disasters.

"relativity and hypocrisy" sums it up very well, Harry - and still it goes on. How does one live with integrity in such times? (I keep on wondering) - and thank you for the RL.
