Locks Exist
The locks exist in testament
to the gates that weren’t kept
closed at times life escaped
like the horse of fabled writ
the temptations beyond four walls
outside the barrier that constrains
beckons those who desire
something more than life restrained
equines sadly run amok
leaving safety of the stall
when the safeguards failed to keep
hearts from straying to wilderness
where the barbs pierce the heart
drawing blood as consequence
now that locks are afterthoughts
life will ponder what's been lost.

Ha, ha, being a recluse is just as safe as if you weren't. XD Heart attack, stroke, cancer, robbery gone wrong (especially since a recluse would almost always, if not always, be at home to be found by a robber), serial killer, falling in the shower, taking a medicine that also happens to be a blood thinner and then accidentally cutting yourself in the kitchen, with a paper cut, or a shard of broken glass, a severe food allergy reaction (if one has an allergy), electrocution from an appliance, fire, slip and fall or trip while carrying a pot of boiling water and spill it all over yourself, hit the back of your head on the corner of your nightstand, using a propane patio heater indoors, excess mold, severe bacterial infection, severe food poisoning, suicide, heartbreak from missing out on life due to excessive fear, the list is endless...but good poem by the way.
