Next Time.

I'd forgotten my phone
I realized it too late
Went back to his home
This had to be fate

There was a low moan
A wet, sliding noise
I should've thought to go
But instead I stood, poised

A loud bang ahead snapped me awake
Followed by a scream that began to reverberate
Over and over like a never ending stream
I followed the sound as if in a slow dream

There in his jeans usually clean, faded from the sun
Now stained from the dripping of oozing dark blood
Stood a devil at the edge of a long white table
Where we'd all taken shots before the party got unstable

I stood in awe, staring at the meaty source
Of all that was pooling with heart pumping force
Twitching, wearing nothing but her torn up hosiery
Was his besties girl who openly cheated without caring

I should have felt scared
I should have just run
Instead of simply staring
Thinking of joining the fun

But no... We're human
This was completely nuts
Get the fuck out
Our head screamed...
But...
Her guts

Were held in perfect
By bulging ribs through large cuts
Amazing how large the lungs
Actually inflate as they lunge

I was frozen on the spot
He looked up slowly to see
Me staring at the dots
Splotching as he went on repeat

Harsh gasping told me that she wasn't dead
Her eyes screamed for help from a lulling head
The pumping of naked, bloodied breasts
As he carved open the flesh on her chest

Dazed me to no sensible end
The trap was set

Was it ten minutes
Or an hour there
A whole day?
I wasn't truly aware

Now in my car
Breathing a bit too loud
Not truly from the running
Or my heart's frantic pound

It was the smile
He gave as he held out his hand
And the mile we ran
To stop from sliding into him

Or him into me...

I really should have reacted past being perfectly fine
Instead of sitting there biting lip, thinking about next time.
