manunkind
the gods make false
promises
the oracles have gone
blind
the churches are drive
through windows of
salvation
and man is stuck somewhere
between fate and
possibilities
the empty sound the
world makes is the
struggling of
souls to
exist
and the echoes of those
spirits are carved into
the rocks of want,
ignorance and
apathy
the earth turns it's head
away
the skies excite with lunatic
fury
the oceans are
bitter
wars come and go
like dirty snow
in the early
spring
our cries for peace are
siren and come from
fables and flower
headed children
philosopher's
still...
generation
follows
murderous
generation
we fail to
see
fail to hear
fail to understand
that the universe
bows it's knee
to no man's
will

One of the best poems I've read so far. The message and words hit in a very realistic and sensual way. I appreciate that the rhyming transitions so subtle into a deeper layer of the context and meaning. Very well done.

"that the universe bows it's knee to no man's will"
Absolutely unforgettable. A quote that should be engraved into the universe itself. And ironically, it already has.

WOW... BK, this is some stuning and very real ink.
Especially adored this part :
"our cries for peace are
siren and come from
fables and flower
headed children
philosopher's "
So very beautiful and piercing, the words you've distilled are truly masterful.

Exactly, BK. The universe only mirrors beliefs, even those that it can be ruled.
Well paced writing!

"that the universe
bows it's knee
to no man's
will"
... sounds like an ending message of hope - even Man's worst willed efforts of continued violence against fellow Man are heading for some ultimate redemption. (I hope so)

I dont know about hope, i just see it as a truth. Man believes, in his arrogance, that he can have dominion over that which cant be dominated. Thanks for your input Josh. Always good to hear from you.

The Gods make no promises - and the Universe only reflects what you project - nothing more or less.
I like the twist on the title, man can indeed be so unkind. Not just to each other, but to the planet and animals as well. It breaks my heart to see what is happening at times. And while I am concerned for the next generation - I am also a believer that they will make a positive difference.

That's what i love about you Ahvanti. You can see some possibilities and hope for our species in spite of where we are at this present moment in our history. Im too far gone after 60 yrs of this shit.
blessings to you always,

Re: Re. manunkind
I have a nine year-old grandson, Kitts. I MUST believe in possibilities for his sake, in hopes that perhaps some, just some of what I believe will gravitate toward him. And that he will be a part of the generation that takes this planet back from greed and profit mongers.
P.S. I am almost 60 too.
