Cruel Destiny
She is a reverie, like a dream a man aspires to have
Longing to relive the moment for the rest of his days
A phenomenon of an everlasting emotion
When soul mates ache upon that first gaze
She has something special full of awe and wonder
That captures him perplexed like some abstract art
They’re attracted with all reason and purpose
Because in her eyes she holds the key to his heart
It’s a mystery that’s beyond all sense and logic
When one spirit attaches itself entirely to another
The feeling drives them both naturally
Giving in wholeheartedly to the other
It’s an astounding thing when two people meet
The palpable attraction is not just a craze
When they share the same mutual feeling
Yet kept a secret when they’re face to face
What a cruel joke destiny can sometimes play
When soul mates are fated to be from birth
But off they go in their different paths
Knowing the truth left to wander the earth

Very sobering write, Wally. It's true that despite being a part of one another, the timing has to be right for the union. There's so much to learn before coming back together.

You are absolutely right, timing is everything. The greatest love stories have suffered because of timing, but it makes up for it in the end.

We don't know the reasons why or how, but later down the road we understand a little better.

I think that the soul mate idea can be described in different terms for different people, spiritual connection, kindred spirits, etc. Some of us are luck to find that one person, others not so much. But it makes for great story telling.
