Writing Contest

These writing contests are sick trying to see who swings the biggest dic-
 -tionary and vocabulary to show others what you got,
You actually should not bargain with those who have thicker jargon,
Unless you like to make everything hot when it’s really not.
And when you think you did well but then misunderstood the spell
The rules and the concept the gracious host was trying to dictate,
Some walked away defeated because they thought when they competed
They felt they were the best but tried and failed then got bent out of shape.
Is this a race? I raise the question, it feels like a confession,
What’s good, what’s bad, what’s sad, what’s mad, what is effective poetry?
Is the ink I think to spill ill enough with skill in sync fulfilled
To sink my quill that acts like an axe about to cut down a tree?
In a sense these competitions are like virtual exhibitions,
Marionettes doing pirouettes dancing curious to see who’s next,
Who’s in the trophy chase? Fill a case in the realm of cyber space,
But for some it constantly avoids them it can give a complex.
