Gravity
Smile and laugh, let the mask work,
Ignore it all and let the void lurk,
Pretend all is fine, let the mind forget,
Keep moving forward and don’t get upset,
Keep the facade strong, don’t let it crack,
Hold it together and ignore the black,
Look away from the dark, the depths within,
Ignore the weight and don’t let it begin,
It starts with a happy moment, the joy,
But built on stilts and destined to destroy,
The feeling the crack, that moment of bliss,
The chink in the armor and it’s time to miss,
Just a bit of happy, reminder of what’s gone,
Enough for gravity and the weight of what’s wrong,
It’s starts from inside, like a gush of air,
Flowing through your body and being unfair,
Ripping away the smile, sadness in your eyes,
The pit of sorrow claims you and joy dies,
Slipping down the well, falling into the pit,
Your body becomes heavy and you can’t avoid it,
It’s not where you want to be, but it claims you anyways,
Knowing where you are and finding you always,
Each slip takes you deeper, each visit lasts longer,
Each time the weight and void grows stronger,
One day it will claim, own what it desires,
Feeding on the mind and watching as it expires.
