Self-War & Peace
One cannot begin
an inner healing process
unless recognizing their own part
amid encountered circumstance
There is never any fault—
nor should be blame
t'ward anyone while learning;
only required experience
necessary to evolve—
become the best version
of ourselves we know:
liberated from expectation
through contrast—
peace by understanding
acceptance
emotional control;
and, a pure Love revolution—
despite personal wars
raging all about us

Even in a faultless universe,
I knew "it" was all my fault.
On to the guillotine.
A grand poom, indeed !

When GWBush won as president, there was a "changing of the guard" dinner at the White House. George gets up to go potty. When he returns, he whispers to Laura, "gee, this place even has a gold urinal." Laura leans over to Hilary and says: "I hate to have to say it, but I think George just pissed into Bill's saxophone"

I like the shedding of skin here. It's a wonderful journey to follow! Superbly peaceful and I love the sliced lines. Well done, A!

Re: Re. Self-War & Peace
That's a great question, HF. I would think most people know their own limits, and would expect no more then they felt they could perform; however, there may be some who expect too much of themselves. If that's the case, then I would say both. Expectation's less advantageous result fuels the emotion of disappointment be it within or without.
I think you can pull off a no-repeater! It really is a great discipline exercise. And, thank you.

Dear A,
This is a fabulous piece of introspection. The line that caught my attention “unless recognizing their own part ” is of particular interest. I think if you can’t acknowledge what your own behavior is/was in something you can’t/won’t grow and will find that, peace, acceptance or emotional control is just outside the grasp.
A very thoughtful, on point write. So meaningful to me on a lot of planes. H🌷

Even so-called hard line "Darwinians" haven't dug down deep into his theory of evolution...the only progress for the human species is to be found in science...everything else goes on as per usual. Powerful poetry indeed Ahavati.

So very true, my friend. Wisdom is the marriage of spirit to science; and, evolution is their love-child.

I like to see Love elevated with a capital "L.
The title appeals because of its ambiguity. Is is "self-war" & peace, or is it "self" - War & peace. Both work, but I suppose that the first fits better with the poem. Nevertheless, such ambiguities give depth to a poem, and allow further scope for reader interpretation.

Found this on someone's reading list! War on my mind, I turned in. Very mature mind at the helm. One dealing with conflict oriented people.

Yep! Conflict and confrontational oriented people are drags, bottom line. But the world is full of them, so what are you going to do but ignore them while carrying on your own purpose? Certainly refuse to go down with them.
Thank you, EW!
