Revolution Ad Infinitum
I need to get up
and let my apparent sins
boil in the morning kettle.
The snake I was afraid of as a child
has now drowned.
At the T-junction I will turn left
and heading in the other direction
let opposites-of-true pass me by
on the other side.
The edaphon* are quietly at work …
a glorious display of co-operation.
In a few months
I will put my spade into the compost-heap
gently lift out some humus
and spread it around, cultivating life.
As a closing ceremony I will bless the worms
who will tell the bees I am on their side.
This is a simple revolution - one that can be repeated
ad infinitum.

" I will bless the worms

we're on their side!!
The photo looks like a potting (repotting) area. Took me back to the days I work as a Crew Chief on an Orchid Farm in San Diego County
Love the spill, btw

Thank you Tallen, and for the RL. Yeah, it's mainly 'pods' for composting, including humanure - and we re-pot stuff in shady areas.
Wow, you worked on an orchid farm - I'm guessing that was interesting.
We're also had a vermiculture (worm Hotel) here in our cellar to cultivate more worms - they're vital. Fortunately the bee population here so far is good. In earlier Spring it was buzzing like mad - thankfully.

Thank you Jade. We are trying to save the world one compost-heap at a time.
If you know anyone who's interested in cultivating humus (and its history) Veronika (my wife) has written a book on it. Feel free to point them in this direction: -->: https://www.amazon.com/Veronika-Bond/e/B00NK2Q52W%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share

Bravo, Josh! I like very much your revolution and unify my voice with that of the worms I. Your support, Che Gardener..
BTW, I thought the yellow disc was a Frisbee 😁

thank you Gahddess - I like the 'Che Gardener' suggestion - must remember that.
No, not a frisbee, just a lid for a tub.

Thank you hrshykss for the read - and RL again.
Worms are amazing - Charles Darwin's last book was all about them - equally important as "Origin of the Species" (I'm kind of biased). Not many people know he is the father of vermiculture - and if his writing on it was taken as seriously as Origin of the Species, then no farmer would ever spray anything on their crops - which is why his last book got no 'airplay', and the previous one a lot.

Thank you Wally. Ever since I got my first job working in a coal mine, I've had this thing about getting my fingers in the soil but it's only since moving to Portugal I've had to 'create soil' (humus) because our particular patch is clay & rock. Hence my composting system.

A realistic revolution that you can do over and over again with a certainty of winning. A refreshing spill Josh.

Re: Re. Revolution Ad Infinitum
You got it Summer, it is a 'realistic revolution'; something genuinely sustainable. If you've got even a small patch of land, you can make a compost heap, and watch the wonder of microbes and worms and tiny insects do their amazing job of breaking down organic waste matter into life-giving humus-rich soil. And thank you for the RL too.

You're welcome Josh. This would be helpful too in curbing pollution. I think every home with small patch of land should practice composting to help the environment.

I was moved to hear about such a close relationship with the earth. You showed more caring in a single stanza than the man who farms the land I live on over the last decade.

Wow, thank you Johnny for that 'feeling-observation'. Sometimes looking after land can be overwhelming, especially as one gets older and is less able to do the hard physical graft - then parts of the quinta get out of hand. But I always return to the wonders of the composting process, 'life' that seems to appear from out of nowhere, and also to plants, flowers, veg that grow of their own accord, given in relative terms not so much input in return for the fruit/food gained, and the magnificence of the flowers.
I've been taking lots of pictures this year before the Spring colour goes and and thinking of doing a 'guided-tour-poem' of the garden part of our quinta. But now, coffee break over, I have to go outside again - and chop wood :))

This is gorgeous. Nature is a big inspiration to me and the poetry I want to write.
"As a closing ceremony I will bless the worms
who will tell the bees I am on their side.
This is a simple revolution - one that can be repeated"
Hit me right in the heart right here.

Thanks Blaidd for visiting. Have just commented on your first poem.
Nature is a bit of a theme at the moment so it looks like you have arrived at DUP at just the right time.
I reckon your poem "I did not complain" would be an excellent entry in a competition recently started (TO WHOEVER INHERITS THE EARTH). You can find it about 10 comps down under the 'competitions' button; alternatively paste this in: https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/forum/competitions/read/10787/
Best regards, Josh.

I had just read it, thank you!
Thank you for directing me to that competition, I'm obviously very new to this website and am still figuring it all out.
