Gone but not

As stubborn as the memory of a lost tooth
Remembered daily
As an absence which
..............nothing else
Quite                     fits

As sudden as the realization of lost air
Once underwing, not
Vertigo blended with fear
   A feeling with no cure

As painful as a lost fight
Which pilfers your wan smile of bone
And lungs of breath
And head of constancy
And legs of buoyancy

Yet gifts you with a collage of bruises

 Every night
