Rain
Rain
softened the heart
of the parched ground
woke it from slumber
with a splash of cold water
and the sky said thank you
in a stripe of color
Thirsty town
received long-awaited revival
it drank up, then produced
many shades of gratitude
living rainbows sprouting
across the new land
Snails sneak across
the shiny, wet sidewalks
and I don't even mind
stepping in puddles
and soaking my shoes
Listening to drops
softly hitting the roof
and decorating the windows,
remembering the beauty
that was once evaporated
from my cloudy heart
softened the heart
of the parched ground
woke it from slumber
with a splash of cold water
and the sky said thank you
in a stripe of color
Thirsty town
received long-awaited revival
it drank up, then produced
many shades of gratitude
living rainbows sprouting
across the new land
Snails sneak across
the shiny, wet sidewalks
and I don't even mind
stepping in puddles
and soaking my shoes
Listening to drops
softly hitting the roof
and decorating the windows,
remembering the beauty
that was once evaporated
from my cloudy heart
