treasured memories

strolling along sandy edges
of eternal waves lapping at feet,
reminiscing on simpler times
collecting bits and pieces of memories
as pretty, shiny seashells
and smooth, colorful stones
to hold and admire in wet, salty hands
and keep safe in pockets
then toss them in the
treasure pile, back home
a beautiful hoard of days gone by
good and bad, happy and sad
all mixed up together in one box
of precious moments past,
minutes to last as long as
the aging mind will let them
