MINING AWKWARDNESS
we approached as strangers
not knowing which way
each would go—
we did that little skip
and then we laughed
in unison
not knowing which way
each would go—
we did that little skip
and then we laughed
in unison

Thanks Josh. I felt giddy walking back to my desk, knowing I was about to write this poem.

This reminds me of that song 'Same Old Lang Syne' by Fogelberg. It has that same hesitant awkwardness turned magic once they laugh.

"She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried."
My kind of poetry right there

She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried."
My kind of poetry right there

For me,
this reads as a playful skip into new fellowships.
Love this Brevity spill

Thank you. I like that it can have that meaning, and when I was writing it that became one of my intents.

Everyone has said it already..... I'll just say I love the simultaneous simplicity and depth. Stellar little write!
