Homicide is My Life

Homicide is my life
Forgive the contradiction
But after 20 years of service
In this frozen metropolis
Called Minneapolis
I've investigated
So many murders
I've become indifferent
To the crime

But this one
Is an exception
It was made to look
Like just another suicide
But before a person
Hangs themselves
They always have
One last cigarette
And her pack of Salem's
Weren't even unwrapped

And what green eyed
Redhead sweety
Would bother donning
A emerald see-through
Babydoll nightie
For her date
With the almighty?

Things didn't add up
It's my job as a detective
To bring everything
Into perspective

And I won't stop
Till her killer
Is caught
Because if I don't
The image of this
Exotic beauty
Will haunt me
Into eternity!
