Three Simple Words

Love is a language both complicated and plain.
It is not cryptic hieroglyphics of pharaohs
Nor arcane Urdu, Aramaic, Farsi, or Swahili.
Love is the language of the heart
Spoken with tongues
And signs and symbols,
Sung in songs of longing and of praise.
Love is spoken without a sound
With happy eyes and smiling faces,
Through tears of joy
And the holding of hands in silence.
Love is a language spoken out loud
And shown in so many ways.
Though I look into your eyes and say.
“I love you”
It is only a speck of dust
In the cosmos to what I mean,
What I want you to know,
The way I want you to feel,
The power you have over me,
That you are my everything,
That I give my life to you.
Like nuclear fission,
Splitting an atom results in
Its overall mass being reduced,
Causing the release of
A massive amount of energy.
Three simple words,
That blow my mind
And rock my world.
Such a small thing to say,
But . . . “I love you.”
