Wilderness

Living in the wilderness
Wearing a camel coat
Eating locust and wild honey
Dust in his beard
Preaching to a brood of vipers
You can’t be friends with a serpent
Because a snake can’t be trusted
The axe was laid to the root of the tree
Who will sharpen my blade?
Prepare ye the way of the Lord
Whom shall I send?
Is it I Lord?
Temptation was in the garden of Eden
Salvation was in the garden of Gethsemane
How well I know temptation
How I long to meet salvation
Only say but thy word
That I may be healed
I long for living water
They pierced His side
Blood and water flowed
Trying to live at the foot of the cross
But it is easier
To preach ten sermons
Than it is
To live one
