The Butterfly Fluttered In.
Six months of
the ache to sleep
the ache to wake
the ache to stand
the ache to see
and the ache
you see
I know my ABC
and my one, two, three
I know my C#
Python and even Raspberry
so when the brain
can't acces solid state C:
it's a relentless ache
I'm in the Pharmacy
waiting for
"I can't remember what?"
the woman behind me says
"don't you find the sweating part
the worst?"
Frankly, I was about to burst
I didn't have that!
Untill that moment
from then on, all I could see
was sweat
all I could feel
was sweat
all I could smell, was sweat
Took to the shower
daily, sometimes
twice
sometimes as many as three
I was determined to wash it off
relentlessly
While drying
reflected in the mirror
was the rash
- gone purple
accross my chest
Now I'm gonna make you cry
because
it's shaped perfectly
like a butterfly
I know she's crawling upward
toward the sky
she'll rest when she reaches
my smiling face
slowly does it,
it's not a race
but like we know
this butterfly
well, she aint shy!
When next you see
a human with SLE
note that thier butterfly
gets washed regularly
(I'm NOT saying that, just for poetry!)
