When The Light Fades
I hate when the light fades from their eyes
When even the brightest stars in the skies
Cannot recreate that shine, cannot replace that gleam
Or change that look that they want to cry and scream
When adulthood and stress overtake them just now
Watching as they begin a tired and dreary journey somehow
Oh I wish I could bring back the fires in their eyes that danced
Before they became jaded and gave life half a chance
But now I see them broken and lost ‘mongst those forever lost
They wanted to earn a better life but at what cost
They spent so much time making money that they forgot to live
You can’t buy time with money, their past is not something you can back give
When even the brightest stars in the skies
Cannot recreate that shine, cannot replace that gleam
Or change that look that they want to cry and scream
When adulthood and stress overtake them just now
Watching as they begin a tired and dreary journey somehow
Oh I wish I could bring back the fires in their eyes that danced
Before they became jaded and gave life half a chance
But now I see them broken and lost ‘mongst those forever lost
They wanted to earn a better life but at what cost
They spent so much time making money that they forgot to live
You can’t buy time with money, their past is not something you can back give
