Can't talk

I try to speak
and nothing comes out-
as if my words are afraid
of the outside world,
trembling at the idea
of being heard

It's like I have no voice-
like something in me
muffles the sound
of silent screams,
strangles every noise
before they escape my lips

My thoughts are prisoners
locked in my mind-
they're not accepting visitors-
they hide between my ears
terrified of being seen
through the windows
of my eyes
