Shades of Morning

Shades of Morning

Early this morning, as I watched you sleep,
I buried myself deep within your arms
My thighs gently dominating your legs as my feet caress the back of your calves
My nose meeting yours
My eyes waiting for you to awake and glare back blue
Our positions changed, as the dawns light creeps in mixing my brown perfectly with your beige. And it was so beautiful how we tossed and turned, over and over again blending our shades
Naturally attracted, the contrast of color.

Hi Emmanuelle. This is a lovely little poem and conceit with a feeling of true love and tenderness evoked by some very strong imagery and mood. My only reservation about it is how you randomly shift tenses from the then to the now. It's distracting to the point of breaking the very nice spell you're endeavouring to cast here. I'd personally like to see it ALL in the immediate present tense, I always think that adds a sense of immediacy and intimacy. Or the past tense if you prefer. But not both.
