MENAGERIE

Why a stork?
A pelican has a built-in bassinet.
One thing is certain,
no rabbits were harmed in my conception.
About bulls...
I am told they prefer fiestaware,
never china…
even on special occasions
Does coal industry safety protocol specify
that canneries wear hardhats?
Or does the cage suffice?
Every camel I’ve met
Is well hydrated.
An ox helped me move the other day.
He was strong and quite chatty.
Most elephants
avoid rooms altogether…
except the pink show-offs, of course.
The punishment was cruel.
The cat was given 9 life sentences,
to run concurrently
His reaction, “whatever…
as long as I’m fed on time…
and don’t serve in a bag.”
A bird and bee?
Logistically impossible…
well maybe a bumble and humming
I went to an owl for advice…
found him rather obtuse.
So I rang my buddy beaver…
Phone was busy...typical.
I asked a crow for navigation assistance
His route was rather circuitous.
Where do I get my information, you ask?
Straight from my horse source,
of course

Author's Note
I was just contemplating a saying prevalent in my growing-up. When a woman was pregnant it was said "the rabbit died." Thus was born this silly piece. Titanium caused me to remember a song by Simon & Garfunkel that relates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xKLBne1CoI
