proverbs

metaphors of the heart
speaking in tongues
little hallelujahs for my man

hidden beneath my ribcage lies a key
love makes it come unhinged
bare and exposed I am vulnerable
you are my weak spot

between bone and muscle
is the truth of me
masculinity made flesh

an angel in the body of a man
in my temple, I worship the scripture of you
god incarnate

a cult follower building my own tower of Babylon
when my prayers don't reach your ears
I climb principalities to touch you

my immorality, my mortality...I'm only human
I hurt when I fail to please you
crucified in my sin
though you never fault me
looking the other way when I fall short

you lift me up within your smiles
hold me tight between your parables of love
write proverbs I can live with

justify me to god
