I've decided to be a crappy poet.
Better than lurking here, reading and never writing.
Fuck my own sense of what's good enough, it's all fair game now.
All the stupid thoughts
dumb revelations
and half-baked ideas.
One-liners or rambling detours.
I'll try to crank out steaming heaps
of semi-poetic shite on the regular.
Maybe there will be some seeds of real poetry sprouting from the manure.

Thanks, I'll try! Lack of time is the big enemy. I never feel like I can spend enough time to "get it right". But I'm feeling rather defiant today.
Being surrounded by so many very awesome poets here also allows me to feel intimidated.... will try my best to not.

The greatest challenge of a poet is mustering the courage to share their work. But poetry comes from your soul and the cosmic powers consider it a great sin not to share your light.
I started writing poetry in 1991, but it wasn't till 2013, when I was diagnosed with cancer, that I finally decided to share my work. Since, I've been published in more than 30 anthologies, most of them paying.
So, get busy and start posting before we summon the ghost of Poe to haunt you. 👻

Well, damn! You have no idea how much I appreciate a real smack-around kick in the pants when I need it. Honestly. This comment has made my heart glad, even if just because you cared enough to take the time to give me a nice stern lecture. ;) Thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel mightily encouraged.
I don't know or care if any of my work would ever be published, but I do know that writing keeps me connected to who I actually am, in the midst of all the roles and expectations in life. I need more of it, and I need to stop telling myself it doesn't count. I will have to return to read this comment often. I'm deeply thankful.
