Walking in the Wilderness
Walking in the wilderness, I find solace amongst the cypress trees;
In the arms of nature’s sweet embrace, where birds sing cheerful melodies.
Far beyond the numbing drone of traffic, the mechanical whirr of human noise;
The screaming sirens of the city, and the cries of little girls and boys.
On a wooden bench beside the water, in a place that only we know,
Magic memories were softly planted; in the gardens of our minds, they grow.
Where the seed of love once sprouted under the shade of our favorite mulberry tree,
Our love did bloom and grow, and a beautiful flower came to be.
Walking in the wilderness, searching deep within my muddled mind,
Revealed to me, the hidden truth, which I have longed to find.
It was there inside my secret garden, in the solace of the cypress trees...
I felt true love’s embrace again, in nature’s sweet serenity.
In the arms of nature’s sweet embrace, where birds sing cheerful melodies.
Far beyond the numbing drone of traffic, the mechanical whirr of human noise;

Author's Note
A thank you note to mother nature for helping me find myself and my deepest passions, as well as true love... On a bench by the water in a special place where many fond memories were made.

Nice setting of the mood and scene. The rhyming gives it a pleasant sound.

Wow, uma, that is a really wonderful compliment :)
I'm so happy that my poem resonated with you in such a way. Your kind words are deeply appreciated!
If I ever forget who I am, may I remind myself, through the power of the natural world, where I belong, and what I want from this world...
EDIT: oh yes, and thank you for the RL - I am honored :)

I am honored by your RL and your wonderful comment, Ahavati!
This one is so true to my heart... I return to this solace in nature often.
It was through nature that I found myself, and through finding myself and solidifying my identity that I found true love :)

This is so earthy and real, one sees the place and remembers the times!
Facts inspire with fire and feeling, where fantasy leans hard on wistful hope or dread.
I feel the truth in this diary experience. How deeply primordial!
Have you read Jamaican poet Claude McKay? Link https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poet/claude-mckay
You have accomplished what McKay longed for while in exile: https://hubpages.com/literature/Claude-McKays-I-Shall-Return

Thank you, cab, for stopping by and leaving feedback. Your kind words are deeply appreciated! This one came straight from my heart and experiences.
I had not heard of Claude McKay, but I am really happy that you brought him up, because his poetry is pleasant and relatable. Not to mention, using a choir to read the poem was a powerful way to deliver it! I really liked that :)

Thanks so much, Whispers! At times it feels like a dream, though it's so very real. If it were a dream, I don't think I'd ever want to wake up, heh. Anyway, Im glad that you enjoyed it!
Oh, btw, that line WAS inspired by a song, actually :)

Aww, thank you for the great compliment :)
I have indeed felt that same feeling. I have a poem on here called "The Incomprehensible" which starts off:
"I found God, not merely in scripture, but in the beauty and complexity of nature and the universe."
Being immersed in the natural world can truly be a spiritual experience...

Good poem. You successfully create a special place that holds deep meaning, a sort of anchor in the chaos.

I'm really happy that you liked it, Lozzamus. I suppose we all have our solace or 'escape' amidst the chaotic world we live in.
I listened to some of your piano playing on Youtube, by the way. You're an all-around talented guy! I am a huge Chopin fan, so I was really happy to see that you like to play Chopin's works. I was particularly excited to see "Raindrop" on there. That's one of my favorite moments in music :)

I enjoy your connection with nature...the theme in your poems. The way you express with detail and such respect. Nature does have a way of taking the rat race out of your mind...such a calming way about herself. I am fortunate to be able to spend everyday outside working. I am a landscaper...it is amazing how when I start working...time passes and I really never worked...I was in a special place along side nature.
Thanks for sharing your view of nature.

I can see why this is your favorite. It's beautiful and magical.
It's so relatable, as i was reading i kept thinking this is how i feel, felt, want to feel when i'm out there in nature, wanting to dissolve in the canvas.
