Single Room Occupancy
I am one who lives alone
Down an apartment hall
Only just one room
But it does somehow suffice
I am entertained
By visions from the past
The varied women in my life
Those who have come and gone
But the memories do stay
Of delights they did supply
The warmth of company
And their tendency to nag
The neighbors are psycho
And prone to violence
But I maintain my peace
And don't pack a hidden knife
I try that old cliché
And say that "life goes on"
It somehow seems to work
If I envision a salon.
