Sleeping Sweet

Now I lay me down to rest
Place your head upon my breast
Very little thrills me more
Than our clothes upon the floor
Every night to feel you thus
Naught but air betwixt us
Have you snuggled in my arms
Safe from any perceived harms
Murmured words softly in sleep
I swear to you I'll always keep
You wrapped up in me so tight
In the darkness or in the light
Slip my fingers through your fur
Time flies by in slumbered blur
Tender kisses shared unknown
What we have has only grown
Watch your face in sweet repose
Peace unseen in sleep disclose
Gentle caress along your ears
Silencing my deepest fears
Every moment with you bliss
Sinking into that dank abyss
Nightmares need I never fear
Not so long as you are here
Breathing calms, my pulse slows
Entwined now in a lover's pose
Heart and soul are yours always
Eyes slipped closed with whispered phrase
I love you.
