Before I Go Blind
Before I go blind
I would like to see
my children
one last time
Before I go blind
I would like to see
man's inhumanity to man
dissolve before my eyes
Before I go blind
I would like to see
the countries of the world
unite under a single flag
free from the foolishness
of religion
Before I go blind
I would like to see
an end to war
hunger and disease
the end of suffering
and inequality
Now it is winter
and before I go blind
I would like to see
a summer sky
with my love smiling down
one last memory
that I may cherish
through all my days
before the last tears
I shall ever cry
And because I am human
if I must choose
one final frozen frame
to warm the darkness
I would say
let me see that now
one last time
so I might understand
that like us all
I am already
blind inside
I would like to see
my children
one last time
Before I go blind
I would like to see
man's inhumanity to man
dissolve before my eyes
Before I go blind
I would like to see
the countries of the world
unite under a single flag
free from the foolishness
of religion
Before I go blind
I would like to see
an end to war
hunger and disease
the end of suffering
and inequality
Now it is winter
and before I go blind
I would like to see
a summer sky
with my love smiling down
one last memory
that I may cherish
through all my days
before the last tears
I shall ever cry
And because I am human
if I must choose
one final frozen frame
to warm the darkness
I would say
let me see that now
one last time
so I might understand
that like us all
I am already
blind inside
