The Same Moon

( a Quatern )

This night, the same moon, you and I tonight,
The smoke is cleared we both can breathe again.
Among the ashes at our feet in spite,
The memory of burnt orange on the wane.

The air embracing us starts to grow cold,
This night, the same moon, you and I tonight.
But in your arms I’m warm, it shines like gold,
And from within, our hearts turn on the light.

From distant ridge where love has joined the fight,
The fireworks of embers as they fly,
This night, the same moon, you and I tonight,
Reminds us of summer’s 4th of July.

We live apart but here we shall remain,
And all about, surrounded by the sight.
To wait upon the blessing of the rain,
This night, the same moon, you and I tonight.
