Image for the poem What He Seems

What He Seems

He still seems somewhat self contained
His demons may be at bay for now
But they yet show up in his eyes
And in deep furrows of his brow

His conscience gathering in force
Remembrance of days in the dark
The imps that plague him in the night
Just may concede the needed spark

He tries to put it on the page
Hesitant with every word
They just don't have the needed strength
And end up reaching the absurd

He still gives it another go
Lets his imagination feed
Catharsis at the midnight feast
And his demons will pay him heed.
